Reality TV

I am a fan of watching reality television. I'm not quite sure why it is. Maybe it is the drama that is in other peoples lives that is entertaining to watch. One question I always had is why are so many people drawn to watching shows that involve people making a fool of themselves. For instance a group of girls trying to "fall in love" with somebody throughout a game show. Hollywood and celebrities are often seen as young people who party and can pretty much get away with murder. But why is it millions of people still watch and encourage it? Could it be that we have no better things to do with our lives? Or is it for the reason that we like to see how other people's lives unfold right inside the tv screen and there is nothing we can do about it but watch. That is the reason: people like to watch because they know this sort of thing would never happen in their lives so they humor themselves into watching others make a fool of themselves. Is this what our society has come to?

    I love the way you called out society on it's complete stupidity to "reality tv." What you wrote made sense and it was the truth, even the ugly truth. It is a fact that some people only watch it to laugh at the people's lives that are unfolding on the TV screen in front of thousands of people and even the most dramatic moments that could be personally almost seem fake. It's hard to tell what is reality and what is acting in shows like that, but I believe the majority of it is acting so that people from a society that idolize TV stars can be on the TV.

    I completely agree with you! All of these reality show now a days are a joke. I think people watch it mostly to make them feel better about themselves and how there lives are. Its ridiculous some of the "finding love" shows that are out there. If you need a TV show to find love that's a probably not a good thing.

    I really agree with this. There are too many reality shows now, it seems to be equal to the amount of news stations. Something is really wrong with that. Reality is not real at all and I think our society is starting to realize that.
